The drive to get here is fantastic and the approach truly beautiful - The Old Rectory waits for you on the other side of the lake. The owners are full of enthusiasm for their fabulous B&B and spoil guests rotten - comfy beds with smooth Egyptian cotton sheets, binoculars for bird spotting and luxurious baths. Fabulous photos of mountains and lake decorate the dining room, there are views from every window to the luminous lake, and you can climb Cadair Idris from the front door. Return, weak-limbed, to a delicious, home-cooked meal and a bit of cossetting... maybe a wallow in the hot tub under the stars. Read the full write up here »

The Old Rectory on the lake nestles on the side of Cadair Idris in southern Snowdonia and enjoys spectacular views across Tal-y-Llyn to the steep sided mountain opposite. Situated mid way between Machynlleth, Dolgellau and the coastal village of Aberdyfi The Old Rectory on the lake offers homely accommodation and is the ideal place to get away from it all and unwind. It also is a great base from which to explore the Snowdonia National Park.
We have two upstairs double bedrooms with views across the lake – both en suite with Victorian free standing baths. Downstairs – looking up the lake – we have a cosy double bedroom with shower and toilet en suite.
Next door is The Rectory Retreat – a self contained studio apartment with double bed and single with kitchen area and wet room.
All rooms have satellite television and radio, plus free Broadband wireless connection throughout the property. We can offer evening meals and are licensed.

What do some regular guests from the West Midlands, a farm cat, a Czech mountain adventurer, a fisherman, a mountain biker, a firewoman on a steam train, a talented artist, a couple from America, some regular house party revellers, a birthday boy and a helicopter pilot all have in common? They have all stayed here with us at The Old Rectory on the lake.
In this short video they explain what brought them to this delightful part of Wales and what they thought of their visit. We thank them all for allowing the cameras to follow them during their time with us.
