Welcome to this luxurious five star B&BThe Old Rectory on the lake nestles on the south side of Cader Idris, in south Snowdonia and enjoys spectacular views across Tal-y-Llyn to the steep sided mountain opposite.
Situated mid way between Machynlleth, Dolgellau and the costal village of Aberdyfi The Old Rectory on the lake offers homely accommodation and is the ideal place to get away from it all and unwind. It also is a great base from which to explore the Snowdonia National Park.
In the house we have three delightful double bedrooms – all en suite – and all enjoying views of the lake. The bathrooms in the two upstairs rooms were described by the Visit Wales inspector as being 'outstanding contemporary en suites'.
Downstairs - looking up the lake - we have a cosy double bedroom with shower and toilet en suite.
Attached is The Rectory Retreat – a self contained studio apartment with double bed and single plus kitchen area and wet room.
All rooms have satellite television and radio and free Broadband wireless connection.
The Old Rectory on the lake can be hired for exclusive use by up to four couples for weekend house parties and this is proving very popular.
All our meals are cooked to order and wherever possible our enthusiastic chef uses local produce - indeed we were even mentioned for our fine Celtic beef during a debate on Welsh food in The House of Commons.
Our meat comes from T J Roberts and Son in Bala, our fish from Gill's Plaice in Aberdyfi, our eggs are Birchgrove free range from Aberystwyth and our fresh vegetables are regularly delivered to us by Tudors of Welshpool.
The Old Rectory on the lake also offers three course quality evening meals and the menu changes daily. We are licensed with a small but excellent wine list from Weavers in Nottingham.

"The Old Rectory on the lake boasts a breath taking setting on the shore of Tal-y-Llyn
and its three bedrooms have stunning views of the lake." - Britain magazine, who chose us as the only one in Wales in their top pick of best five star bed and breakfasts in Britain.
